I had somehow never heard of Dysmantle until a couple of weeks ago, despite always being on the lookout for new couch co-op games to play with my wife. I was skeptical of the indie game developed and published by 10tons at first, but it has quickly turned into an easy recommendation, and I'm surprised it's not listed more regularly among local co-op options. The best part is, Dysmantle is currently on a deep sale, though it won't last long.
