The MCU’s Avengers: Infinity War wouldn’t have been possible without the sensational early 1990s Marvel Comics storyline that inspired it. The source material for the MCU, the original Infinity Gauntlet series, was the last gasp of the ambitious Marvel storytelling that defined the 1970s and ‘80s, before the publisher went in a much different direction over the next several decades.
