Death was a breath of fresh air in Supernatural season 5. Even in such an expansive fictional universe, Julian Richings' eerie "undertaker who enjoys his job just a little too much" performance has the air of something truly ancient - a gravity of presence even Lucifer himself couldn't match. All of that is established during Death's first meaningful scene, a date with Dean Winchester at a local pizza restaurant. The exchange is terse, but cordial. Comedic, but scary enough to keep Dean on edge at all times.
