Although skeptics were certain that one iconic ‘00s sitcom couldn’t pull off a 2026 revival, it took just nine episodes for the ABC show to prove them wrong. South Park’s 2026 name change proves that TV comedy shows can last decades provided they are willing to change with the times. When Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s irreverent satirical comedy started life back in 1997, South Park was a crude, obscene collection of toilet humor and gruesome cartoony violence, but the series gradually morphed into a timely political satire over the years.
