Sitcoms are usually scraping the bottom of the barrel for story ideas in their final season, but Seinfeld attempted one of its most ambitious experiments in one of its last ever episodes. When a sitcom goes on for more than four or five years, the quality almost always starts to steadily decline toward rock bottom.
