When The Witcher debuted on Netflix in 2019, it arrived with enormous hype. Season 1 promised a prestige fantasy adaptation that could finally do justice to Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels while embracing the games’ popularity. Instead, the series has become a cautionary tale about how not to handle beloved source material, despite occasional high points.
