Defying conventional wisdom, ARC Raiders is only getting more popular as weeks go by following its release. Embark Studios' extraction shooter had a significant amount of excitement behind it from those who played in pre-release technical and server tests, but it was set to release into what was still considered a fairly niche genre that is notoriously unfriendly to casual players. A core audience was clearly anticipating ARC Raiders, but a perfect storm seems to have given the game an opportunity to become a smash hit.
