Michael Dawson’s story on Lost doesn’t fall apart all at once. It’s death by abandonment; first narratively, then emotionally. His early episodes pulse with paternal anguish, a father clawing toward reunion. But what begins as a desperate search soon becomes a void. The show loses interest, and Michael becomes a ghost of the urgency that once defined him.
