Ben Radcliffe and Thomasin McKenzie were so wowed by the Fackham Hallscript that they nearly gave away all of its secrets early. The film, co-written by comedian Jimmy Carr and his brother Patrick, as well as the group known as the Dawson Bros., is a spoof send-up of the period drama genre as it centers on the wealthy Davenport family, who are rocked by the sudden murder of one of their own.
